See the Final Design for the South Broadway Bikeway!
Two-way protected bike lanes to connect Cherry Creek Trail and Broadway Station
Following nearly two years of design and a robust public outreach process, final plans for the South Broadway protected bikeway will be shared with the community, virtually, on Wednesday, February 24 (see details below).
The two-way parking-protected bikeway will improve access and safety for people on bikes to/from the Cherry Creek Trail and Broadway Station.
In addition, the project will also provide other significant transportation and safety improvements for people walking, riding transit and driving on South Broadway from Center to 7th Avenues. Other enhancements include:
Adding a raised concrete buffer and pedestrian refuge, which carves out a safe place for pedestrians to stop, if needed, before continuing to cross the street.
Intersection safety, bus stop and accessibility improvements to shorten the crossing distance for people on foot and provide better connectivity to transit.
New bike signals and rebuilding 13 traffic signals along this stretch with larger, more visible lights (red/yellow/green) as well as adding new pedestrian countdown signals to improve safety for people crossing the street on foot.
Adding green infrastructure, which will clean stormwater runoff before it flows to the river.
Incorporating public art and trees to enhance the pedestrian experience along the corridor.
Next steps for the project include:

Additional Project Information:
This project is part of the voter-approved Elevate Denver Bond Program and aligns with Mayor Michael B. Hancock's Mobility Action Plan to provide people with enhanced transportation choices, so they feel more comfortable riding a bike, walking to work or taking transit.
Other transportation improvements are also planned for the north segment of Broadway from the Cherry Creek Trial to Civic Center Station. Currently, that project is in the conceptual design and funding identification stages.
