ByersWe did it !! -- DPS votes 7-Zip to bring DSST to Byers in 2013 !!Great news! On June 30th the DPS Board unanimously approved Denver’s fifth and final DSST to be located at Byers Jr. High, to be open starting in 2013. You made this happen. Thank you for your steadfast commitment and advocacy. Thank you to our great volunteers and email army. Thank you to our excellent speakers and stalwart meeting attendees. South Denver families and their children owe you all a debt of gratitude. A debt of gratitude is also owed to the members of the DPS Board. While all seven board members supported DSST-to-Byers, Mary Seawell and Jeannie Kaplan worked particularly long and hard to make this happen. And Bruce Hoyt, who represents much of southeast Denver and was initially non-committal, gave an eloquent speech supporting the decision to place DSST at Byers. Categories:

It is our firm belief that our neighborhood needs school resources, both now and in the future, to continue to attract families to our neighborhood. ************************************** Thank you for your phenomenal response to our January call to action! Your emails to the DPS Board made a big impression. Now DPS wants a discussion directly with you. DPS has scheduled a “community conversation” about solutions to school issues in south Denver.
